Located south of Kuwait City, Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City is a visionary urban development unlike any other. By flooding 200 square kilometres of desert with carefully engineered canals, the project has created a new waterfront city designed for 250,000 residents.
Our role was to recruit civil engineers, marine specialists, and project managers capable of delivering a city literally carved from sand. The expertise we placed ensured critical infrastructure – from marine works to utilities – could be executed to world-class standards. Today, Sea City stands as a bold example of sustainable coastal living in one of the world’s harshest climates.
Julius Nyerere International Airport, Tanzania: A New Gateway to Africa
Airports are often the first impression of a country, and Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport needed a modern, efficient gateway to match Tanzania’s global ambitions. The Terminal 3 expansion now handles over 6 million passengers annually and has boosted both trade and tourism across East Africa.
The Highfield Company recruited key professionals across aviation engineering, MEP systems, and contract management. These individuals helped deliver an airport that not only expands capacity but also improves safety, efficiency, and passenger experience — creating a critical hub for one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
Alto Maipo Hydropower Project, Chile: Powering Santiago
Deep in the Andes mountains, the Alto Maipo project is a 531 MW hydroelectric plant designed to supply 30% of Santiago’s electricity. The project involved drilling 67 kilometres of tunnels through complex geology, often under extreme weather conditions.
The scale of the challenge required world-class talent. We sourced tunnelling engineers, geotechnical experts, and health and safety professionals who could navigate both technical and environmental hurdles. Their contributions were vital in keeping the project on track, enabling Chile to expand its renewable energy portfolio and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Chenani–Nashri Tunnel, India: Cutting Through the Himalayas
Stretching 9.3 kilometres through the Pir Panjal range, the Chenani–Nashri Tunnel is India’s longest road tunnel. It has cut travel time between Jammu and Srinagar by hours, improving trade, tourism, and safety in a region once plagued by treacherous mountain roads.
For this project, The Highfield Company recruited tunnelling engineers, project controllers, and site supervisors experienced in complex underground works. Their expertise ensured that state-of-the-art ventilation, fire safety, and monitoring systems could be installed, setting a new benchmark for Indian infrastructure.
Baku City Mall, Azerbaijan: A Regional Retail Destination
In Azerbaijan’s capital, the Baku City Mall is the largest shopping centre in the Caucasus region, blending modern design with cultural heritage. The 120,000 square metre site hosts international retailers, dining, and entertainment, creating a new economic and social hub for the city.
We recruited construction managers, fit-out specialists, and MEP coordinators who could bring global standards to a rapidly developing market. The result is a landmark project that has redefined urban retail in the region and created thousands of jobs.
Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, Kuwait: Redefining Urban Transport
This 7.2 kilometre upgrade to one of Kuwait City’s busiest roads included multi-level interchanges, underpasses, and service roads – all while keeping traffic flowing during construction. The Jamal Abdul Nasser Street project has improved safety, reduced congestion, and future-proofed a critical transport artery.
The Highfield Company supplied project engineers, planning professionals, and traffic management experts. Their work helped maintain continuity for the city’s commuters while delivering a road system designed for long-term capacity and growth.
