Construction Manager

To work closely together with the Project Manager and the project team to ensure that all assigned projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with the contract. The candidate must be able to collaborate with other departments and communicate results and concerns to the Project Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing all construction activities of the awarded newbuild rig projects
  • Manage the construction team to deliver first time high quality across all disciplines, through all project construction phases and establish continuity of information from Engineering to Production to enable a smooth flow of work throughout the project
  • Manage the construction team to ensure there is a consistent focus on a high level of detailed scope understanding and early issue identification, tracking and mitigation
  • Contribute strongly to prepare the execution strategy and work pack for NBR awarded projects
  • Ensure day-to-day running of the project is functioning in accordance with the project schedule and budget
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure manpower resources are allocated appropriately to execute the works according to the schedule and consistently drive toward organised and productive outputs from direct and indirect discipline labour
  • Maintain a high-level control around cost of all construction consumables and equipment utilised during the repair works
  • Possess strong initiative around decision making and ability to conceptualize plans and technical solutions to deal with a wide array of standard and innovative construction issues
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to design and prepare the required procedures and standard process related to rig building activities
  • Liaise with the key client representatives to ensure all Company’s obligations are met under the contract
  • Liaise with and provide support to the project subcontractors to ensure that all contract obligations are met
  • Should possess strong knowledge and understanding of shipyard HSEQ regulations and rig building job certification requirements and ensure the same is communicated to the project team on a regular basis
  • Perform the construction risk management, know how to increase the project profit margin & maximize the customer satisfaction
  • Identify the work priorities, focus on the critical path, analyze the work problems in writing with own problem-solving mentality, accurate supervision, decision-maker with a strong convincing personality, full readiness with ‘Plan B’ for any unexpected issues

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Naval Architecture, Structural) or similar
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certificates preferable
  • Project management, time management and planning skills
  • Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions
  • Able to lead and manage newbuild rig construction projects
  • Experienced in handling rig building and similar offshore related projects which are of high value and with technical complexities
  • Able to coordinate and communicate with other internal & external stakeholders in newbuild projects
  • Knowledge of shipyard production trade activities
  • Strong Knowledge in Work pack development and system
  • Able to lead and manage the Toolbox Talks effectively
  • Able to build, encourage and lead a team
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in shipyard and preferably involved in offshore activities and/or rig building
