ROLE: Head of Design
LOCATION: North Yorkshire
SALARY: £55,000 – £70,000
My client is a market leading and innovative subcontractor at the forefront of the construction and design industry who has a reputation for delivery. The business is a cash rich organisation with a solid order book of work that demonstrates how well they are doing in this challenging market, specialising in the architectural metalwork and structural steel market.
They are currently looking for an ambitious and knowledgeable individual to head up the Design department!
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain efficient tools and methodologies for substantiation of system performance in compliance with relevant standards
- Engineer system solutions to optimal levels to ensure they are robust, safe and commercially viable
- Develop and maintain a knowledge of new technologies, applications and research in the field
- Serve as the design expert, solving technical problems and managing risks and opportunities
- Overseeing the Design team
Requirements
To be successful in this role you’ll be an inspiring leader, developing the skills of your team. You’ll be responsible for building long-lasting relationships with our clients throughout the design and build phase of each contract, so effective communication will be second nature to you.
You will have strong delegation skills and the ability to solve complex problems, consulting with engineers to recommend the best solutions. You will also have an eye for detail and will review information moving through the department to ensure it is accurate and on time with programme deadlines.
You will have knowledge of production facilities and how construction teams operate on site, so a background in a structural design office is essential for the role.
The ideal candidate will also have with an MEng or IStructE qualification. Experience of using Autodesk or Tekla software would also be beneficial.
